Covestro LLC (Covestro) has officially disclosed a pivotal change in its distribution landscape, effective from April 1, 2024, wherein Amco Polymers will cease to be a distributor of Covestro polycarbonate products. The decision mutually agreed upon by both entities marks a strategic realignment in Covestro's distribution network. Covestro will continue to accept polycarbonate orders from Amco Polymers up to March 1, 2024, after which Amco Polymers will retain its status as an authorized distributor for Covestro’s Texin® and Desmopan® family of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) resins.

The company's commitment to providing diverse channels for customers to access its broad portfolio of polycarbonate resins and blends. Covestro, a global leader in polycarbonate resins, ensures a seamless transition in its distribution strategy to meet the diverse needs of its customers.

As part of this transition, Covestro will continue to offer its polycarbonate products through authorized national distributors Formerra, LLC (Romeoville, IL), and M. Holland Company (Northbrook, IL), in addition to direct sales. Covestro's flagship polycarbonate brand, known for its versatility and application across various industries such as automotive, medical devices, and consumer electronics, will remain readily accessible through these channels.

Covestro's polycarbonate, a high-tech material with properties akin to Makrolon® polycarbonate, is particularly well-suited for applications requiring high-temperature resistance. Its applications span across automotive lighting, industrial lighting, appliances, and medical devices. The versatility of this resin extends to a family of ultra-tough materials, addressing demanding physical, chemical, and environmental requirements. Industries such as electrical/electronic, industrial/mechanical, healthcare, and automotive find numerous applications for this resilient polycarbonate blend.

Emphasizing the distinctive features of Covestro's polycarbonate blend, Paleos highlighted its high toughness even at very low temperatures, rigidity, dimensional stability, easy processing, color stability in indoor lighting, and heat resistance. This blend caters to a wide array of applications in sectors like electrical/electronics, medical, consumer goods, and automotive.

Covestro stands as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-quality polymer materials and their components, playing a pivotal role in enhancing sustainability and the quality of life across various industries. The company's innovative products, processes, and methods cater to key sectors such as mobility, building and living, as well as the electrical and electronics sector. Beyond these sectors, Covestro's polymers find applications in sports and leisure, cosmetics and health, and the broader chemical industry.

This strategic realignment in Covestro's distribution network reflects the company's commitment to adapting to market dynamics and ensuring a streamlined approach to meet the evolving needs of its customers. The continued availability of its polycarbonate products through authorized distributors underscores Covestro's dedication to providing diverse avenues for its customers to access cutting-edge materials for their applications. As Covestro continues to play a crucial role in various industries, this distribution realignment signifies a strategic move toward optimizing its operations and ensuring sustained excellence in product accessibility and distribution efficiency.
