Continuous Optimism in Ethylene Dichloride (EDC) Prices Fills PVC Traders With Hope

The global price trend of Ethylene Dichloride (EDC) was identical in February 2023, and several factors have been affecting the global price trend of EDC, while the arrival of seasonal demand remained the major driving factor. However, the pace of price increment varied regionally.
In Asia-Pacific, the market was quite impressive. In India and China, the price of EDC increased by 4.5%, respectively, and increased demand for the product across the Indian and Chinese markets was observed during this period. Furthermore, the prices of feedstock Ethylene increased, which also supported the price trend.
In the Middle East, the prices of EDC experienced growth. In Saudi Arabia, the prices for the product rose by 1.2% as the prices of feedstock Ethylene increased. Furthermore, this product witnessed increased demand from both domestic and international consumers, and the supplies were also observed to be good during this time period.
The European markets were identical to that of the Asian markets. The prices of EDC gained momentum during this period. In Germany, the prices of EDC increased by 3.4% as the costs of feedstock Ethylene rose, and the demand from downstream Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) industries increased.
In North America, too, prices of the EDC increased. In the US, the prices of this product inclined by 1.2% during February as the price of feedstock Ethylene increased. Domestic demand for the commodity from automotive, electronics, health care and construction industries rose, while the supplies remained balanced across the region.
According to the observations by ChemAnalyst, this month, the prices of EDC are expected to grow globally.
In China, construction activities may gain good momentum, and in India, too, it is expected to pick up the pace, which may increase the demand for this product, leading to price growth. Further, feedstocks Ethylene & Calcium Carbide prices are expected to rise, which may also impact these products’ prices.
In Saudi Arabia, Germany, and the US, prices for the product may rise during this month as the price of feedstock Ethylene is predicted to grow during this period. Moreover, the demand from downstream PVC industries may also rise and impact EDC prices.
