Denmark: The largest e-Methanol project in the world will use MegaMax, a Methanol synthesis catalyst from Clariant AG (Muttenz, Switzerland). The facility, which is situated in Kasso, Denmark, is expected to begin operations by the end of 2023. Using the Clariant catalyst, it will be able to manufacture 32,000 tons of e-Methanol every year from Carbon dioxide. MegaMax was selected because it has a history of providing high activity and stability under the demanding circumstances of CO2-to-Methanol conversion. The shipping behemoth Maersk has already been given a sizable chunk of the plant's annual produce for use in powering its first fleet that is Carbon neutral. The Lego Group and Novo Nordisk will receive the remaining green Methanol.

Honored to be a part of this ground-breaking project with European Energy, said Georg Anfang, Vice President of Syngas and Fuels at Clariant Catalysts. For more than ten years, Clariant Catalysts has been developing Power-to-X technologies, such as green Methanol. Green Methanol has a great deal of promise to be a crucial part of the energy transition to decarbonize the transportation industry as a replacement for maritime bunker fuel.

Thrilled to have Clariant on board, stated Anders Brendstrup, Vice President at European Energy. goal to lead the shift to green energy is a natural fit for their renowned expertise and cutting-edge goods. Relationship has tremendous benefits, both for this ground-breaking initiative and for future endeavours.

In order to promote the green transition and create sustainable, fossil-free energy alternatives, European Energy was established in 2004. The international corporation has made significant investments in power-to-x and Carbon capture technology, as well as solar and wind energy projects. Every year, European Energy constructs 1000 MW of renewable energy.

MegaMax from Clariant offers the improved stability needed for the manufacture of green Methanol, making it the perfect choice for European Energy's Power-to-Methanol initiative. Additionally, the catalyst exhibits exceptional activity, even at very low reactor pressures and temperatures. Additionally, MegaMax delivers exceptional conversion rates when paired with green H2 feed under pure CO2 conditions. In addition to preventing the production of by-products in the yield, the catalyst's excellent selectivity enhances the sustainability and economics of green Methanol synthesis.

For more than 50 years, Clariant has been creating, manufacturing, and selling highly active and selective catalysts for the generation of Methanol, consistently enhancing catalyst performance to meet shifting market demands. It provides a full variety of catalysts and technology for Methanol synthesis and supports you with in-depth technical services to ensure their best performance. Higher lifetime productivity, decreased by-product production, and decreased feedstock and energy consumption all benefit our clients.
