Cashman Preload Cryogenics Wins Contract for 100,000 m³ LPG/Ammonia Storage Tank in Gibbstown, NJ

Cashman Preload Cryogenics (CPC), an affiliate of Jay Cashman Inc., has been awarded a significant contract by Delaware River Partners (DRP) for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of a state-of-the-art, full-containment storage tank for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia (NH3) in Gibbstown, New Jersey. Designed to hold 100,000 cubic meters, or roughly 26 million gallons, this advanced storage facility will provide DRP with substantial capacity and operational versatility.

The storage tank will feature an outer precast, prestressed concrete wall combined with an inner carbon steel shell and dome, creating a dual-layer containment system. Spanning 260 feet in diameter and standing 135 feet high, the tank will rest on a concrete mat foundation reinforced by approximately 1,300 piles, ensuring durability and stability. Engineered to hold liquefied propane or ammonia at temperatures as low as -60°F, the tank offers DRP operational flexibility by allowing it to store different products as needs evolve over time.

“This is the third full-containment tank project awarded to CPC in the past two years and represents one of the largest tanks built in recent years,” noted Eric Reaman, President of CPC. Reaman explained that CPC’s use of a prestressed concrete tank design aligns with the client’s commitment to operational safety by providing a fully-contained storage solution. Additionally, CPC’s design helps maintain construction timelines and quality standards, while meeting budgetary constraints—a key benefit for DRP.

CPC’s focus on innovative containment solutions and high safety standards has led to its rapid growth within the industry. This project underscores CPC’s ability to deliver large-scale, high-quality storage solutions in response to evolving industry needs. Construction on the tank commenced in October 2024, with project completion targeted for 2026. Upon completion, this facility will be one of the largest full-containment LPG and ammonia storage tanks built in recent years, further reinforcing CPC’s expertise in the design and delivery of advanced containment solutions for hazardous materials.

This EPC contract marks a pivotal addition to CPC’s expanding portfolio, reflecting both the company’s capability and commitment to supporting clients in meeting stringent safety, quality, and budgetary standards.
