Europe: Calvera Hydrogen, a leader in the Hydrogen industry and expert in compression, transport, storage, and dispensing of high-pressure Hydrogen with 40 years of experience, has developed the world's largest capacity Hydrogen Tube Trailer model at its Zaragoza (Spain) facilities. This cargo trailer is built to the highest safety standards.
After years of rigorous testing and development, Shell Hydrogen's new Tube Trailer is finally ready to hit the roads. It can transport up to one ton of Hydrogen on US roads and 1.3 tons (about 2,870 lbs) on EU roads (due to different weight regulations in each region). This impressive feat is all thanks to its working pressure of 517 bar (7,500 psi), which makes it the Tube Trailer with the highest work pressure available on the international market. It stands 45 feet long, made from state-of-the-art Carbon fiber. The vehicle will be used to service Shell's Hydrogen refueling stations around the world.
For more than two years, Shell and a partner company have been working together to engineer and technologically develop a groundbreaking project. This project will be launched in the United States and Germany. As part of the agreement between both companies, new units of the Tube Trailer model are being created in order to meet the Hydrogen transport needs at Shell refueling stations across the U.S., Europe, and the U.K.
The latest equipment is designed to help maximize the capacity and pressure of Hydrogen storage, leading to increased efficiency and cost savings at Hydrogen refueling stations. Through integrated automatic valves, it acts as both a mobile and fixed intelligent storage system. This helps to regulate different stages of pressure in the dispatch process, making operations simpler and more efficient.
This project is a truly impressive feat due to its innovative and complex design and superior safety standards. It stands out amongst others with its unique ability to meet both US and EU regulations, something that has been difficult to achieve in both the engineering and legal aspects.
