Calgon Carbon Acquires Industrial Reactivated Carbon Business from Sprint Environmental Services, LLC

Calgon Carbon Corporation (“Calgon Carbon” or “the Company”), a subsidiary of Kuraray Co., Ltd. (TYO: 3405) (“Kuraray”), disclosed today its exclusive agreement with Sprint Environmental Services, LLC to purchase its industrial reactivated carbon business. The acquisition encompasses 21 employees and an industrial carbon reactivation plant situated near Houston, Texas.

Lisa Reese, Senior Vice President of Industrial Solutions and Diversified Applications, commented, "This acquisition aligns seamlessly with our objectives. The industrial carbon reactivation sector has experienced significant expansion in recent years, with increasing recognition of carbon reactivation as an optimal recycling and disposal solution across various industries."

The completion of the transaction is anticipated by July 2024.

The Company presently operates five strategically positioned reactivation facilities throughout the United States, two of which possess the capability to manage RCRA hazardous waste. Carbon reactivation not only serves as a cost-efficient solution but also enables customers to mitigate liabilities linked to alternative disposal methods, diminish CO2 emissions, and promote carbon recycling.
