Canada, North America: Nova Chemicals Corp., a firm with headquarters in Calgary, is advancing sustainability by embarking on a new endeavour and building their first mechanical recycling facility in Connersville, Indiana. The purpose of this facility is to process post-consumer plastic sheets to commercially produce Nova's Syndigo recycled Polyethylene (rPE).

The company plans to start processing these films by 2025, with a supply of more than 100 million pounds of rPE expected to reach the market by 2026. Over the coming years, Nova Chemicals plans to increase its recycling activities with the aim of having 30% of its total PE sales made up of recycled materials by 2030.

Roger Kearns, president, and chief executive officer of Nova Chemicals is committed to building a more sustainable future through the inventive redesign of plastic products and assisting their clients in achieving their recycled content goals. Nova Chemicals and Novolex have joined forces to construct a recycling facility in Indiana, a state known for its emphasis on sustainability, innovation, and a business-friendly climate, to accomplish this goal. It is anticipated that this new factory will generate about 125 new employment openings and rank among the top employers in the Connersville region. Connersville was chosen as the location for this business due to its proximity to an adequate supply of post-consumer film feedstock from nearby major cities and its effective rail connection for supplying Syndigo rPE to customers.

Recently, Nova Chemicals unveiled its 2030 Roadmap to Sustainability Leadership, which calls for a sizable investment of 2-4 billion USD by 2030 to increase its selection of sustainable products, decarbonize its assets, launch a mechanical recycling company, and investigate cutting-edge recycling technologies.

In a recent statement, Greg DeKunder, Vice President of Nova Circular Solutions, emphasized the important role that plastic items play in daily life and how they may contribute to the creation of a more sustainable world with lower carbon emissions. He has also stressed Nova Chemicals' unshakable dedication to working with others to create innovative solutions that advance a vibrant North American circular economy and restore the value of plastic commodities.

DeKunder has emphasized the long-term relationship between Nova Chemicals and Novolex, as well as the state of Indiana, as an ideal illustration of this dedication, which has produced productive outcomes in the pursuit of a sustainable future.

Nova Chemicals Corp. has declared that it will build a mechanical recycling facility in Connersville, Indiana. To commercially generate high-quality Syndigo recycled Polyethylene (rPE), the facility will recycle post-consumer plastic films. This new factory, whose principal operator is Novolex Holdings LLC, which employs about 125 people, is anticipated to generate many job possibilities in the neighborhood.
