Buxton Resources Graphite Bull Project Soars with 345% Resource Increase, Poised to Fuel the Chemical Industry

Buxton Resources has announced a significant milestone at its Graphite Bull Project in Western Australia, with a remarkable 345% increase in the estimated resource. This substantial expansion positions the project as a major player in the rapidly growing graphite market, with potential to supply critical minerals for a range of applications, including electric vehicle (EV) batteries, energy storage systems, and other vital components in the chemical industry.
The updated resource estimate now stands at an impressive 20.7 million tonnes at 10.8% total graphitic carbon (TGC), containing 2.25 million tonnes of graphite. This substantial increase is largely attributed to the delineation of a maiden indicated resource, which now comprises 40% of the total resource. This achievement follows extensive metallurgical studies that have enhanced confidence in the geological understanding of the deposit, paving the way for future development and expansion. The indicated resource category, known for its higher level of confidence, accounts for 7.6 million tonnes at 11.6% TGC, representing 890,000 tonnes of contained graphite.
CEO Marty Moloney expressed enthusiasm for the updated resource estimate, highlighting the culmination of two years of dedicated work. "This updated mineral resource estimate improves the tonnage, thickness, strike extent, and geological confidence of the Graphite Bull Project, with numerous shallow drill targets remaining as exploration upside," Moloney stated. He emphasized that the new estimate provides a more robust understanding of the project's potential, enabling more efficient planning for future operations.
The updated resource model also reveals the presence of several shallow, high-grade graphite zones within the deposit, including a promising hanging wall zone. These high-grade zones could enhance the economic viability and flexibility of open-pit mining operations. Furthermore, the project's grade and tonnage block model indicate significant potential for further resource expansion, particularly along strike at shallow depths where multiple electromagnetic conductors remain unexplored by modern drilling techniques.
Buxton Resources is not only focused on exploration but also on the downstream potential of the Graphite Bull ore. The company is conducting qualification test work at its in-house laboratories, evaluating flotation, spheroidization, purification, and anode/cell manufacture processes. These tests are crucial for confirming the suitability of the graphite for various high-value applications, including its potential use in the burgeoning EV battery market.
Located 250 kilometers northwest of Meekatharra in Western Australia, the Graphite Bull Project spans 22 square kilometers and is strategically positioned in a mineral-rich region.
