BPCL, or Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd., has chosen Univation's UNIPOL™ PE Process Technology for two large-scale production lines at its Bina Refinery in Madhya Pradesh, India. These units are expected to collectively produce 1,150,000 tons per year of polyethylene (PE).

The designs for the two reactor lines at BPCL are engineered with full production back-fill capabilities, aimed at maximizing manufacturing flexibility, ensuring continuous supply of PE resin, and enhancing responsiveness to evolving market demands.

BPCL's two reactor lines will facilitate the production of both high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) products, enabling BPCL to meet diverse customer demands across essential PE applications in the Indian markets. BPCL is leveraging Univation's advanced HDPE technologies, including the PRODIGY™ Bimodal HDPE Technology and ACCLAIM™ Unimodal HDPE Technology, to address the stringent performance requirements of HDPE applications such as high-pressure PE100 and PE80 pipes, small and large part blow molding. Additionally, BPCL will utilize Univation's XCAT™ Metallocene Catalysts to manufacture specialized metallocene films tailored for durable shipping packaging, film structures for enhanced food preservation, and sustainable agricultural applications.

Nathan J. Wiker, President of Univation Technologies, expressed his appreciation for BPCL's choice of Univation's UNIPOL™ PE Process for their two reactor lines in India. He emphasized Univation's commitment to collaborating closely with BPCL throughout the successful design, commissioning, and safe start-up of these large-scale plants. Looking ahead, Nathan highlighted Univation's ongoing dedication to fostering a strong partnership with BPCL, aimed at maximizing value in high-performance markets such as metallocene LLDPE and bimodal HDPE applications through the efficient UNIPOL™ PE Process.
