Bostik, the adhesive solutions segment of Arkema Group, has introduced its new Kizen LIME range of packaging adhesives, marking a significant milestone in Arkema's journey toward achieving Net Zero. This launch represents a crucial advancement in Bostik’s efforts to reduce carbon footprints and enhance the sustainability of packaging solutions. In collaboration with Dow and Nordson, Bostik is offering an innovative adhesive solution specifically designed for End of Line packaging, aimed at reducing reliance on fossil resources and promoting sustainable practices in the packaging industry.

The Kizen LIME adhesives are tailored for use in recyclable paper and cardboard packaging, particularly for Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG). This innovative product is made with a minimum of 80% renewable ingredients, including bio-based materials certified by EN 16640:2017 and bio-circular materials certified by ISCC PLUS. Bostik is thrilled about the launch, as it highlights the company's dedication to driving sustainability and delivering high-performance solutions. Kizen LIME not only helps reduce the environmental impact of packaging but also ensures superior performance in terms of mileage, adhesion, and energy efficiency.

A key factor in the success of Kizen LIME is the contribution of AFFINITY RE from Dow, which plays a pivotal role in the adhesive’s sustainability credentials. By incorporating biogenic carbon uptake, a process enabled by an attractive by-product from the food industry, Kizen LIME is able to achieve nearly 100% carbon footprint avoidance. This collaboration between Bostik, Dow, and Nordson demonstrates the potential of cross-industry partnerships to create innovative, eco-friendly packaging solutions that help reduce pressure on fossil resources and lower carbon emissions.

Kizen LIME adhesives are hotmelts, meaning they are 100% solid and free from solvents and water, ensuring an environmentally friendly approach to packaging. These adhesives are designed to provide tamper-evident seals, which add an extra layer of security to packaging. The adhesive causes fiber tearing of the cardboard, making it clear to the consumer that the package has not been opened since it was sealed at the production plant. This feature not only improves consumer confidence in the product’s safety but also reinforces the brand’s commitment to quality and sustainability.

Overall, the introduction of Kizen LIME is a major step forward for Bostik and Arkema in their mission to reduce carbon emissions and contribute to a more sustainable future. The product’s high renewable content, energy-saving benefits, and excellent performance make it a strong choice for companies looking to improve the environmental impact of their packaging. By working closely with partners like Dow and Nordson, Bostik continues to drive innovation in the adhesive and packaging industries, paving the way for more sustainable packaging solutions in the global market.
