Saudi Arabia’s national shipping company, Bahri, has strengthened its long-standing partnership with global gas carrier owner Petredec to address the kingdom’s growing demand for LPG and ammonia transportation. This strategic alliance aims to enhance shipping capabilities and ensure a reliable supply of these essential commodities, both regionally and globally.

As part of the collaboration, Bahri Oil and Petredec will establish a dedicated joint commercial team, marking a new chapter in their two-decade-long relationship. The partnership leverages Bahri’s 40% stake in Petredec, coupled with Petredec’s established LPG logistics and value chain platform, to support Saudi Arabia’s increasing shipping needs.

Giles Fearn, CEO of Petredec Group, emphasized the strong foundation of trust and shared objectives between the two companies, stating: “For twenty years, our partnership with Bahri has been built on mutual respect and common goals. It has been a privilege to work with Bahri as both a shareholder and fellow director. This collaboration is a natural evolution, bringing together our expertise to support Saudi Arabia’s expanding LPG and ammonia shipping sector. I look forward to deepening our relationship as Bahri strengthens its role in the industry.”

Ahmed Ali Al Subaey, CEO of Bahri, highlighted the significance of the partnership in reinforcing the company’s commitment to Saudi Arabia’s energy logistics, saying: “This alliance with Petredec is a continuation of our long-standing collaboration and demonstrates Bahri’s dedication to meeting the kingdom’s growing LPG and ammonia transportation requirements. We are establishing a dedicated in-house LPG team within Bahri Oil to focus on future Saudi Arabian LPG and ammonia shipping needs.”

Al Subaey also underscored the broader strategic vision behind the collaboration: “By combining Bahri’s global shipping expertise with Petredec’s leadership in LPG transportation and logistics, we aim to expand our footprint in these vital markets. This initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, reinforcing economic growth and positioning the kingdom as a leading global logistics hub.”

The strengthened alliance between Bahri and Petredec is expected to enhance operational efficiency, improve supply chain resilience, and support Saudi Arabia’s ambitions to play a pivotal role in global energy logistics.
