Avflight Mesa, in collaboration with Avfuel Corp., is pleased to announce the availability of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at Falcon Field, marking a significant step in reducing aviation emissions. The first truckload of SAF arrived on August 28, positioning Avflight Mesa as a leader in environmentally responsible aviation operations. This move enables customers to immediately reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, supporting the broader goal of eco-friendly aviation. Avflight Mesa is the first among Avflight’s 26 locations to offer SAF, while it becomes Avfuel’s 30th location to consistently supply SAF. It is also the second site in Arizona where Avfuel has introduced SAF this summer.

Aaron Mauer, senior regional manager for Avflight, expressed excitement over the launch, stating that the introduction of SAF aligns with Avflight Mesa’s sustainability initiatives and demonstrates the company’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas production. Customers can now incorporate SAF into their operations, aiding them in achieving their sustainability goals.

The SAF provided by Avfuel is produced by Neste in Long Beach, California, and branded as Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel. It features a high blend ratio of 30% SAF to 70% conventional jet fuel, one of the highest blends available in business aviation. Each delivery of 8,000 gallons of SAF results in a reduction of 19 metric tons of carbon emissions over its lifecycle, equivalent to removing 4.5 passenger vehicles from the road for a year.

Since Avfuel acquired Avflight Mesa’s fixed-base operation (FBO) in 2020, the two companies have worked closely to meet fuel demands and support sustainability efforts. The introduction of SAF at Falcon Field represents a key milestone in Avflight’s broader network-wide commitment to sustainable aviation.

Corinne Nystrom, Falcon Field’s airport director, praised the initiative, noting that the availability of SAF aligns with Mesa’s Climate Action Plan and supports the city’s efforts to protect its environment and natural resources. As Falcon Field continues to grow, SAF will play a critical role in reducing emissions while accommodating the increasing operations at the airfield.

This move also aligns with Avflight’s broader initiatives, including certification under the National Air Transportation Association’s (NATA) Sustainability Standard across its U.S. locations and its work with BETA Technologies to install electric charging stations at key sites.

Located in the Phoenix metropolitan area of Arizona, Falcon Field is a general aviation airport managed by the City of Mesa. It serves as a supplementary airport to Phoenix Sky Harbor International and Phoenix-Mesa Gateway airports, which are the region's primary commercial service hubs. Falcon Field is conveniently reachable from three major highways: the Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway, the 101 Freeway, and the Highway 60 Superstition Freeway.
