At Least 6 Killed in Oxygen Plant Explosion in Bangladesh

Bangladesh: A devastating tragedy occurred on Saturday in southeastern Bangladesh. At least six people were killed and several injured when a fire broke out at an Oxygen plant after an explosion. Officials report that it was the result of the accident.

Rescue efforts are still underway at a plant in Sitakunda, located 40 km (25 miles) away from the port city of Chittagong. The death toll is likely to increase as a result of these operations.

A fire service official reported that the cause of the explosion was not immediately known.

"Six bodies were recovered from the site," local government official told adding the rescue operation was still ongoing.

Residents of a small town were startled when a loud explosion reverberated through the area. Witnesses reported that the sound shook homes over a two-kilometre radius. Police have confirmed the incident and are investigating the cause of the blast.
