The Asia Natural Gas and Energy Association (ANGEA) and the Korean Private LNG Industry Association have announced a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) designed to promote cooperation in natural gas development across Asia and enhance the role of LNG in the energy transition. This MOU represents the first international agreement for the Private LNG Industry Association, which was founded in 2021 to harness expertise in Korea's LNG sector through research, technology support, and information sharing. Its current members consist of SK E&S, SK Gas, GS Energy, GS EPS, GS Power, Posco International, Boryeong LNG Terminal, and Hanyang Corporation.

Under this MOU, ANGEA and the Private LNG Industry Association will collaborate on developing policies to promote sustainable growth in the natural gas sector, share research and data, and undertake joint projects, including those at international forums like Gastech.

ANGEA CEO Paul Everingham expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “ANGEA is delighted to enter this MOU with the Private LNG Industry Association and looks forward to a productive collaboration. LNG has been a reliable energy source for South Korea, and its continued supply will be crucial for the country’s energy transition.”

Mr. Chang-kyu Kim, Vice President of the Korean Private LNG Industry Association, noted, “We anticipate that this MOU will act as a catalyst for domestic companies to forge stronger relationships with global energy firms and enhance their international presence. We are committed to supporting our members as they expand into global markets.”

This agreement is anticipated to strengthen LNG's role in the global energy transition and promote more dynamic and impactful interactions within the gas industry throughout Asia, including South Korea.

Based in Singapore, ANGEA is a leading industry association representing the entire global gas value chain, including production, transport, infrastructure, manufacturing, and end users. The association collaborates closely with governments, industry stakeholders, and societal groups across Asia to develop and implement comprehensive energy policies. ANGEA’s efforts are focused on aligning with each country’s climate goals while fostering sustainable economic growth both nationally and regionally. By working constructively with diverse sectors, ANGEA aims to build effective and integrated strategies that support the energy transition and promote long-term economic and environmental benefits.

The Korean Private LNG Industry Association was established to advance expertise in the domestic LNG sector through comprehensive research and analysis of direct imports and emerging business opportunities. Its mission includes supporting and disseminating technological advancements and spearheading initiatives to energize the industry. By undertaking these activities, the association aims to drive the development and growth of Korea’s LNG industry, contributing to its overall progress and vitality.
