KBR has announced a new partnership with AMUFERT to develop a state-of-the-art ammonia plant in Soyo, Angola. The agreement, which focuses on the construction of a 2,300 metric tons per day ammonia facility, will see KBR provide its renowned technology license, proprietary engineering designs, equipment, and catalyst solutions. This collaboration marks a significant step toward bolstering food security and self-sufficiency in Angola and its neighboring countries, as the new plant will play a key role in enhancing sustainable agricultural practices in the region.

Jay Ibrahim, KBR's President of Sustainable Technology Solutions, expressed excitement about the project, stating, “We are thrilled to be a part of this initiative and to support AMUFERT in accelerating sustainable agriculture in Angola through our leading ammonia technology.” He added that KBR’s long-standing relationship with Angola strengthens the company's commitment to ensuring the success of this important project. With a rich history of innovation and proven expertise in the ammonia industry, KBR is well-positioned to contribute to the advancement of agriculture in the region.

KBR’s ammonia technology has been a cornerstone of its legacy, with the company being a global leader in this field. Since 1943, KBR has played a pivotal role in the ammonia market, having licensed, engineered, or constructed more than 260 grassroots ammonia plants around the world. This vast experience positions KBR as a trusted partner for AMUFERT in this project, which will be instrumental in meeting the growing demand for ammonia, a key ingredient in fertilizer production.

The new plant will not only support Angola’s efforts to achieve greater food security but will also enhance regional self-sufficiency, reducing dependency on imported fertilizers. As the demand for fertilizers continues to rise, particularly in Africa, this ammonia facility is expected to contribute significantly to the region’s agricultural productivity. The partnership with AMUFERT is part of KBR’s broader strategy to advance sustainable solutions, supporting agriculture through innovative technologies that contribute to the long-term health of the environment and economy.

KBR’s extensive expertise in ammonia technology and its legacy of successful projects around the globe make it an ideal partner for AMUFERT. By combining KBR’s advanced technologies with AMUFERT’s local expertise, the project is poised to become a model for sustainable development in the region.
