Amogy, a firm focused on advanced and efficient systems converting ammonia to power, has disclosed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Plastic 2 Green Inc. (P2G). P2G is known for its innovative process of converting mixed waste plastic into profitable, carbon-neutral ammonia. The partnership aims to explore integrating Amogy’s technology into P2G’s green ammonia manufacturing plants, where it will serve as a backup or supplementary power source. This collaboration highlights their joint dedication to promoting ammonia as a cutting-edge, emission-free energy solution for the future.
Amogy has pioneered an advanced system converting liquid ammonia into hydrogen and nitrogen, which is then utilized in a fuel cell to produce efficient electrical power. In parallel, P2G employs its patented ElectroThermal Dissociation™ technology to convert non-recyclable plastic waste into "Emerald Ammonia™" at a competitive cost. This collaboration exemplifies the circular economy's potential, demonstrating how synergistic partnerships between aligned companies can accelerate sustainable advancements.
Seonghoon Woo, CEO of Amogy, explains that teaming up with Plastic 2 Green aligns naturally with their goals. He emphasizes that together, they are leveraging the circular economy to advance ammonia as a fuel and lead in integrating ammonia energy solutions. Woo anticipates collaborating closely with P2G to showcase how innovation and partnership can drive progress towards a more robust and sustainable energy future.
Plastic 2 Green CEO Ed Van Dyne underscores the transformative impact of the collaboration with Amogy in addressing both plastic waste management and clean energy challenges. He expresses enthusiasm about scaling up their cost-effective production of green ammonia in collaboration with Amogy, a leader in clean energy solutions.
Amogy offers carbon-neutral energy solutions aimed at reducing carbon emissions in challenging sectors like maritime, power generation, and heavy industry. Its patented technology for cracking ammonia has been successfully deployed, demonstrating maturity, scalability, and exceptional efficiency in converting liquid ammonia into electrical power through hydrogen fuel cells. Amogy's headquarters are based in Brooklyn, New York, with additional offices in Houston, Texas, Norway, and Singapore. The company receives support from investors such as Amazon’s Climate Pledge Fund, Temasek, SK Innovation, Aramco Ventures, Mitsubishi Corporation, and AP Ventures.
P2G utilizes an innovative, patent-pending technology to transform unrecyclable, mixed plastic waste into advanced clean energy fuels such as green ammonia and high-value specialty carbon products. Known as ElectroThermal Dissociation™, this process is emission-free and effectively removes harmful micro and nano plastics linked to health issues like strokes, heart attacks, and blood clots.
