Birmingham: The Ammogen Consortium partners have reached a significant milestone in the construction of their revolutionary Ammonia to Hydrogen facility. The consortium recently gathered at Tyseley Energy Park (TEP) to mark the laying of the foundations for the "first-of-its-kind" green Ammonia to Hydrogen demonstrator. Once operational, the facility will supply TEP's hydrogen refuelling station with 200kg of transport-grade Hydrogen per day. This ground-breaking technology is set to revolutionize the energy industry and significantly boost efforts to reduce Carbon emissions.

A cutting-edge facility that will convert Ammonia to Hydrogen through a ground-breaking cracking process is set to become the world's largest and most efficient of its kind. The £6.7m ($8.3m) project, funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), will utilize H2Site's innovative technology to achieve this feat. The process involves using a high temperature furnace to crack Ammonia into Hydrogen and Nitrogen before filtering and purifying it for use as fuel. This technology is expected to vastly reduce Carbon emissions and represents a significant step towards a greener and more sustainable future.

The Ammogen Consortium has brought together a group of renowned project partners including Gemserv, Equans, H2Site, TEP, Yara and the University of Birmingham to revolutionize the energy industry. Through early investment in cracking technologies that enable Ammonia to be used as a Hydrogen carrier, the partners predict that this could deliver an estimated £16bn GVA in the UK. This ground-breaking technology has the potential to significantly reduce Carbon emissions and transform the way we approach sustainable energy production.

Gemserv is an integral part of a novel project aimed at accelerating the production of green Hydrogen on a global scale, by exploring Ammonia as a potential carrier. By collaborating with market-leading consortium partners and the government, Gemserv is focused on driving progress towards a sustainable future for local communities in Birmingham and the entire nation. This innovative approach has the potential to revolutionize the energy industry, significantly reducing Carbon emissions and helping the world move closer to achieving the much-needed Net Zero target.

The foundation for a sustainable Hydrogen economy and the path towards a green industrial revolution are being set by this innovative project.
