ALUCAM has been recognized for its commitment to sustainability by achieving ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022) certification for its primary aluminum smelting operations. This certification covers a wide range of processes, including the production of green anodes, anode baking and rodding, casting of aluminum ingots and slabs, rolling of slabs, and coating of coils. Additionally, ALUCAM's environmental management practices, such as the management of industrial waste and the handling of raw materials, have also been acknowledged through this certification.

The Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) has announced that ALUCAM has achieved certification under the ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022). ALUCAM's operations include aluminium smelting, casting, rolling, and coating, with a total annual production capacity of 100,000 tonnes.

The ASI Certification program, a globally recognized standard, is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability framework for the aluminum industry. Developed through extensive stakeholder collaboration, it provides a rigorous assessment of sustainability performance across the entire aluminum sector. The ASI Performance Standard V3 (2022), introduced in May 2022 after an extensive revision, encompasses 11 principles and 62 criteria across three sustainability pillars: Environment, Social, and Governance. It aims to tackle critical sustainability issues within the aluminium value chain, including biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples' rights, circularity, and greenhouse gas emissions.

The independent audit of ALUCAM was conducted by Certainable GmbH. The audit report, available from page 5 of the summary audit document linked below, details evidence of compliance as well as six minor non-conformances. These non-conformances are associated with Criteria 9.1a-d (Human Rights Due Diligence), 9.7a-h (Affected Populations and Organizations), 9.8e (Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas – Annual Reporting), 10.3a-c (Forced Labour), 10.8a-c (Working Time), and 11.1a (Occupational Health and Safety Management System). ALUCAM will be implementing a corrective action plan during the certification period, which will be reviewed in subsequent follow-up audits.

ALUCAM is a prominent aluminum producer in Cameroon, with a strong focus on the production and transformation of primary aluminum through the three key processes of electrolysis, rolling, and lacquering. The company operates strategically located facilities in Edéa and Douala, employing a substantial workforce and boasting a significant production capacity of 100,000 tonnes per year. This substantial production capacity contributes significantly to the industrial development of Cameroon and supports the local economy.

The ownership structure of ALUCAM reflects the strategic importance of the company to Cameroon's industrial landscape. The state holds a controlling stake of 93.3%, underscoring its strategic significance. The remaining shares are strategically distributed between the French Development Agency (5.6%) and the employees (1.1%), fostering a sense of shared ownership and alignment with the company's goals. This diverse ownership structure ensures a balance of strategic direction and operational efficiency.

Through its operations, ALUCAM plays a vital role in the aluminum value chain, producing high-quality primary aluminum that serves as a crucial input for various industries. The company's integrated production processes enable it to offer a wide range of aluminum products, catering to the diverse needs of its customers.
