AleAnna, Inc. has announced significant progress in its renewable natural gas (RNG) business with the completion of several key initiatives. These include the acquisition of majority working interests in three biogas plants in Italy, the generation of initial corporate revenue from plant operations, and the successful securing of Italian Government capital incentives for the construction and conversion of biogas plants to biomethane plants.
One major development is the Campagnatico project, a new biomethane plant in the Tuscany region, operated by AleAnna subsidiary AleAnna Renewables. This plant, with a 100% working interest held by AleAnna, is designed to produce 500 standard cubic meters (Scm) of biomethane per hour from agricultural waste. Construction is currently underway, with expected completion by Q1 2026. The total acquisition and construction cost is estimated at $15.33 million, and the Italian Government has awarded $5.35 million in capital incentives, which will significantly enhance the plant's profitability once operational.
Another key project is the Campopiano plant, also located in Tuscany. This existing biogas plant, currently generating renewable electricity from agricultural waste, will be retrofitted with a biomethane upgrader in 2025. After the retrofit, it will be capable of producing 500 Scm per hour of biomethane, with a 90% working interest held by AleAnna Renewables. The total acquisition and construction cost is estimated at $14.5 million, and the plant is expected to qualify for $3.05 million in Italian Government incentives.
The Casalino plant, located in Piedmont, is another existing biogas facility that will be upgraded by AleAnna Renewables, which holds a 100% working interest in the plant. After retrofitting with a biomethane upgrader in 2025, the Casalino plant is expected to produce 250 Scm per hour of biomethane. The total cost for acquisition and construction is estimated at $10.8 million, with anticipated Italian Government incentives of $2.83 million.
These three plants are already generating significant revenue. The Campopiano plant currently earns about $150,000 per month, while the Casalino plant generates approximately $120,000 per month. Combined, these plants provide AleAnna with initial corporate revenues of approximately $270,000 per month.
Marco Brun, AleAnna’s CEO, expressed excitement about the company’s early success in the RNG sector, highlighting the quality of the acquisitions and the company's plans for continued growth. With a robust pipeline of future plant acquisitions and a skilled management team, AleAnna is poised to expand its footprint in the Italian green energy market and lead the RNG industry.
