Alba and Daiki Aluminium Team Up for Eco-Friendly Aluminium Dross Processing Plant in Bahrain

On August 7, 2024, Aluminium Bahrain BSC (Alba), the largest single-site aluminium smelter globally, and Daiki Aluminium Industry Company Ltd, Japan’s foremost aluminium product manufacturer, revealed a strategic partnership. This collaboration aims to develop a sustainable aluminium dross processing enterprise in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony, hosted at Alba's facilities, saw the participation of Alba’s CEO Ali Al Baqali, Acting Chief Marketing Officer Hisham Al Kooheji, and the Alba Executive Management Team. Also present were Daiki Aluminium Industry Company Ltd.’s Chairman and Representative Director Yamamoto Takaaki, Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer Goto Kazushi, and Vice General Manager of the Overseas Business Coordination Department Fukushima Toshitake.

This collaboration strengthens the economic relationship between Bahrain and Japan and sets the stage for pioneering developments in sustainable aluminum production. By combining Alba’s industry-leading expertise with Daiki Aluminium's advanced technologies, this joint venture is well-positioned to advance Bahrain’s environmental objectives and align closely with Alba’s ESG Roadmap. At the heart of this partnership is a mutual dedication to circular economy principles. The new aluminum dross processing facility will utilize cutting-edge technology to recover valuable aluminum metal and markedly reduce waste, thereby supporting Bahrain’s sustainability targets.

Ali Al Baqali, Chief Executive Officer of Alba, highlighted the transformative impact of the partnership with Daiki Aluminium, describing it as a key milestone in Alba's sustainability efforts. He emphasized that leveraging Daiki Aluminium's technological expertise will enhance operational efficiency and contribute significantly to Bahrain's economic development. Al Baqali stressed that this collaboration reflects Alba's commitment to delivering enduring value to stakeholders and advancing the circular economy. He also noted that the joint venture will exemplify sustainable aluminium production, showcasing how strategic partnerships can drive meaningful progress and foster positive environmental and economic changes.

Yamamoto Takaaki, Chairman and Representative Director of Daiki Aluminium Industry Company Ltd. highlighted the significance of the newly signed MoU in advancing global sustainability goals. He expressed pride in forming a strategic alliance with Alba, a prominent player in the aluminum industry, emphasizing that the partnership will play a crucial role in supporting Bahrain’s environmental objectives. Takaaki noted that Daiki Aluminium, with over a century of experience in aluminum recycling since its founding in 1922, is well-positioned to contribute to the development of a sustainable aluminum industry. He assured that the collaboration will harness the strengths of both companies to drive positive environmental impact and promote the principles of the circular economy, aligning with their shared commitment to sustainability.
