Air Liquide has successfully issued a new €500 million green bond, reinforcing its commitment to advancing both financial and environmental objectives. This latest transaction aligns with Air Liquide's strategic ADVANCE plan, emphasizing sustainable growth and innovative energy solutions.
The proceeds from this green bond issuance will be allocated to financing or refinancing key energy transition projects, with a particular focus on low-carbon hydrogen and air gases. This marks Air Liquide’s third green bond issuance, following successful issuances in 2021 and 2024, both of which were fully allocated.
Investor interest in this latest issuance was substantial, with the transaction being significantly oversubscribed. The bond was executed under Air Liquide’s Euro Medium Term Note (EMTN) program and carries a 10-year maturity with a yield of 3.570% per year. The bond has received strong credit ratings of "A" from Standard & Poor’s and Scope Ratings, and "A2" from Moody's, reinforcing the Group's financial stability and reliability.
Jérôme Pelletan, Group Chief Financial Officer and Member of the Air Liquide Executive Committee, emphasized the importance of this issuance. He stated, “This new green bond issuance, coming less than a year after our previous one, highlights the strength of our market position despite ongoing economic uncertainties. It also reflects investor confidence in our resilient business model.”
Pelletan further noted that the funds raised will support Air Liquide's record-breaking investment efforts in 2024. These investments aim to advance transformative projects in collaboration with clients, particularly in energy transition initiatives.
By securing this additional funding, Air Liquide is strengthening its ability to implement ambitious projects that contribute to global decarbonization and sustainable energy solutions. The green bond issuance aligns with the Group's ongoing commitment to responsible investing and fostering environmentally friendly innovations.
