Aekyung Chemical, a leading South Korean chemical manufacturer, has completed its ambitious "Lotus Project" in Vietnam. The project, centered at its subsidiary AK Vina in Dong Nai Province, marks the establishment of Vietnam's largest production system for surfactants and unsaturated polyester resin (UPR).

The completion ceremony, held on February 27, witnessed the unveiling of expanded and newly constructed facilities of Aekyung Chemicals. The Lotus Project, symbolically named after Vietnam's national flower, involved a substantial expansion of the existing surfactant plant and the creation of a new UPR production base.

With this expansion. AK Vina has dramatically increased its surfactant production capacity from 16,000 tons per year to a robust 40,000 tons. Simultaneously, the newly established UPR facility boasts an annual production capacity of 37,000 tons. This combined output solidifies AK Vina's position as the dominant producer of these crucial chemical components within the Vietnamese market, a region recognized for its immense growth potential.

Aekyung Chemical's CEO, Pyo Kyung-won, emphasized the strategic significance of this development during the ceremony, attended by over 100 stakeholders, including AK Vina employees and Dong Nai Province government officials. "It is highly significant that AK Vina has established the largest production system for surfactants and UPR in the Vietnamese market, which has infinite potential," Pyo stated. "We have secured global top-level productivity and safety environment standards, and through this, we will become a partner providing better products and services to our clients."

The decision to expand in Vietnam reflects Aekyung Chemical's astute recognition of the country's rapid economic growth and industrialization. Vietnam's strategic location, youthful workforce, and favorable investment policies have made it a magnet for foreign investment, particularly from South Korean companies. The robust economic ties between the two nations have facilitated this expansion, highlighting a broader trend of globalization and supply chain diversification.

The selection of Dong Nai Province as the project's location was a strategic choice. The province's status as a key industrial hub within the Southern Key Economic Zone, coupled with its well-developed infrastructure and proximity to Ho Chi Minh City, provides an ideal environment for manufacturing and industrial activities.

Beyond the immediate increase in production capacity, the Lotus Project aligns with Aekyung Chemical's long-term vision of establishing a comprehensive production and supply system capable of delivering customized products. This approach aims to enhance customer satisfaction and secure sustainable growth in a competitive market. By investing in advanced technology and adhering to stringent safety standards, Aekyung Chemical is positioning itself as a reliable and innovative partner in the region's burgeoning chemical industry.
