ADNOC Gas and Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) have signed a landmark partnership agreement aimed at advancing the UAE’s energy transformation. The deal, valued at $10 billion, is centered on a 10-year flexible natural gas sales and purchase agreement (SPA) between ADNOC Gas Facilities LLC and EWEC. This strategic collaboration was officially announced during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025, on the sidelines of the World Future Energy Summit (WFES), with key executives from both companies in attendance.

Fatema Al Nuaimi, CEO of ADNOC Gas, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating, “We greatly value our long-term partnership with EWEC, which supports the rise of digitization, resilient connectivity, and growing technology adoption across the UAE. By collaborating across the industrial value chain, we aim to leverage Abu Dhabi’s vast gas reserves to ensure the UAE’s self-sufficiency while continuing to fuel two-thirds of the nation’s industries, driving sustainable growth and diversification.”

The deal highlights the growing importance of natural gas in the UAE’s energy transition. As EWEC seeks to integrate renewable and clean energy sources, natural gas will serve as a critical bridge between traditional and sustainable energy. Othman Al Ali, CEO of EWEC, affirmed the partnership’s role in the country’s long-term energy strategy, noting, “This landmark agreement with ADNOC Gas ensures a stable and flexible supply of natural gas, which is essential to enabling the UAE’s energy transition.”

Both companies aim to contribute to the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 initiative, with natural gas playing a pivotal role in achieving this goal. Al Ali further explained, “This partnership strengthens EWEC’s ability to deliver a secure, efficient, and decarbonized water and electricity system, while supporting the country’s broader sustainability and economic objectives.”

Through this collaboration, ADNOC Gas and EWEC are set to bolster the UAE’s energy security and drive sustainable development, reinforcing the country’s position as a leader in the global energy transition. The agreement not only ensures a consistent supply of natural gas but also reinforces both companies’ commitment to reducing emissions and advancing the UAE’s strategic energy and environmental goals.

This major step in the UAE’s energy evolution is expected to benefit both companies as they align their operations with the nation’s broader vision for a sustainable and diversified economy.
