Adani Energy Solutions (AESL), a leading player in India's power transmission and distribution sector, has announced a significant win, securing a Rs 2,800 crore (approximately $337.35 million) power transmission project in Gujarat. This project is pivotal for the development of green hydrogen and green ammonia production in the region, specifically in Mundra. The company secured this project through a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) mechanism, with PFC Consulting Limited serving as the bid process coordinator. The special purpose vehicle for the project was officially transferred to AESL on March 20, 2025.

The project, titled "Transmission System for Green Hydrogen/Ammonia Manufacturing Potential in Mundra, Gujarat," is crucial for supplying the necessary green electrons to facilitate the production of environmentally sustainable hydrogen and ammonia.

The scope of the project includes a substantial upgrade of the Navinal (Mundra) electrical substation. This upgrade will involve the installation of two large 765/400kV transformers, significantly enhancing the substation's capacity. Additionally, AESL will construct a 75 km long 765kV double-circuit transmission line, connecting the Navinal substation to the Bhuj substation. This infrastructure development will add 150 cKM of transmission lines and 3,000 MVA of transformation capacity to AESL's existing network.

With this project, AESL's total network will expand to 25,928 cKM of transmission lines and 87,186 MVA of transformation capacity. The project is expected to be completed within 36 months, or three years, demonstrating AESL's commitment to timely and efficient execution.

This win marks AESL's sixth order in the fiscal year 2024-2025, bringing its total order book to approximately Rs 57,561 crore (approximately $6.93 billion). This robust order book underscores the company's strong position in the power transmission sector and its ability to secure and execute large-scale projects.

The development of green hydrogen and green ammonia is a critical component of India's energy transition strategy. Green hydrogen, produced using renewable energy sources, offers a clean alternative to traditional fossil fuels. This project will play a vital role in establishing Mundra as a key hub for green hydrogen and ammonia production, contributing to the nation's efforts to achieve its renewable energy targets and promote sustainable development.

Adani Energy Solutions' successful bid and the subsequent execution of this project will have a significant positive impact on the region's infrastructure and contribute to the growth of the green energy sector. The company's expertise in developing and managing large-scale transmission projects will be crucial in ensuring the timely and efficient completion of this vital infrastructure.
