Texas [US]: OCI and Linde have announced a long-term agreement to supply clean Hydrogen and Nitrogen to OCI's new blue Ammonia facility located in Beaumont, Texas. This is part of OCI's commitment to reduce their carbon footprint by producing sustainable energy products. Linde's experience in the industrial gases and engineering sector will ensure a successful endeavour for both companies.
Linde is set to build, own and operate an on-site complex complete with auto thermal reforming with carbon capture and a large air separation plant. This new complex will be part of Linde’s extensive industrial gas infrastructure along the Gulf Coast. In addition, they will supply OCI's 1.1 million tonnes per annum blue Ammonia plant with clean Hydrogen and Nitrogen.
OCI has announced that Linde will be providing clean Hydrogen, reducing more than 1.7 million metric tonnes of Carbon Dioxide emissions from the atmosphere each year. The Hydrogen will then be upgraded to produce blue Ammonia, enabling OCI and its downstream customers to lower their carbon footprint in an array of different industries.
Linde is investing approximately $1.8 billion in the OCI project, with an estimated total investment cost of under $1 billion. The project will include spending on upsized utilities and available land, allowing for a doubling of the proposed 2.2 Mtpa capacity in the future. This ambitious project is expected to be operational by 2025.
