Wood, a global leader in consulting and engineering services, is set to collaborate with Australian ASX-listed medical device firm PolyNovo Limited to significantly enhance the production capacity of its wound treatment devices. Under a detailed design contract, Wood will create a state-of-the-art cleanroom facility dedicated to manufacturing PolyNovo's medical products, including BTM, SynPath, and MTX. These innovative devices are designed to expedite the healing process for chronic burn and trauma-related wounds.

The new facility, anticipated to be completed in 2025, will substantially increase production capabilities, enabling PolyNovo to better meet the rising local and international demand for its devices used in treating soft tissue defects. This partnership builds on Wood's previous success in providing early-stage design services aimed at upgrading the site infrastructure in preparation for the new facility.

Jim Goff, Senior Vice President of Life Sciences at Wood, expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “PolyNovo’s medical devices are a true testament to how life sciences technology can transform lives. We’re proud to be selected by PolyNovo based on our specialty cleanroom and life sciences facility design expertise. Our track record of strong, predictable delivery will ensure the safe, successful completion of this contract at pace, on time, and with innovation front of mind.”

Tom Sullivan, Program Manager at PolyNovo, highlighted the collaborative effort between the two companies, noting, “PolyNovo engaged Wood from an early stage in the process. Together, we’ve been on a journey through concept and feasibility, detailed design, and the construction phase. Wood’s team has been exemplary to work with. They are considered, thoughtful, and provide a high level of expertise across all relevant disciplines.”

This collaboration not only marks a significant advancement for PolyNovo in expanding its manufacturing capabilities but also underscores Wood's commitment to advancing life sciences technology. By facilitating the creation of this new cleanroom facility, Wood is playing a crucial role in enabling PolyNovo to enhance its product offerings and ultimately improve patient care in wound management. As the healthcare landscape continues to evolve, partnerships like this one demonstrate the importance of innovative engineering solutions in supporting the development and production of life-changing medical technologies.
