VINCI has secured a €74 million contract for piping and mechanical works at a green hydrogen steel plant in Germany, expected to prevent 3.5 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

Cobra IS, a subsidiary of VINCI, has been chosen by SMS Group GmbH to undertake the piping and mechanical installations for a pivotal part of Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe's steel production facility in Duisburg, Germany. This significant contract, valued at €74 million, marks a crucial milestone in the region's industrial landscape. The facility, designed to produce 2.5 million tonnes of Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) annually, stands as Germany's maiden plant exclusively powered by green hydrogen.
