Venture Global LNG announced on February 17 that its Calcasieu Pass liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility will commence commercial operations on April 15, 2025. This milestone brings the project to fruition in under 68 months from its final investment decision (FID) in August 2019.

The commencement of commercial operations signifies that Calcasieu Pass has met all necessary performance tests and regulatory requirements. The company has formally notified these customers of the upcoming operational status, paving the way for the consistent delivery of LNG under the agreed-upon 20-year contract terms.

Calcasieu Pass is Venture Global's first operational facility, having commenced LNG production in January 2022. This milestone has paved the way for the company's continued expansion in the LNG sector. Venture Global's second facility, Plaquemines LNG, achieved first production of LNG in December 2024, demonstrating the company's rapid progress in developing its portfolio of LNG assets.

With the commencement of commercial operations, Calcasieu Pass solidifies its position as one of the fastest greenfield LNG projects ever completed. This achievement underscores Venture Global's commitment to delivering reliable and cost-effective LNG to the global market. The facility will now supply its long-term customers with the full contracted volumes of LNG, fulfilling Venture Global's promise to provide the lowest-cost, clean LNG.

Venture Global expressed its sincere appreciation to the numerous stakeholders who contributed to the successful completion of the project. The company lauded its construction and completion teams for their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to safety throughout the project's lifecycle. Venture Global also acknowledged the invaluable support provided by its vendor teams, who played a crucial role in facilitating the necessary repairs and overcoming manufacturing hurdles. The company further extended its gratitude to government regulators, including the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), for their diligent oversight and cooperation, which were instrumental in navigating the complex regulatory landscape and ensuring the project's compliance.

Venture Global is committed to becoming a leading provider of U.S. LNG, sourced from the resource-rich North American natural gas basins. The company's business encompasses a comprehensive range of activities across the LNG supply chain, including LNG production, natural gas transport, shipping, and regasification. Currently, Venture Global is actively constructing and developing over 100 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of nameplate production capacity, aimed at supplying clean and affordable energy to markets worldwide. Furthermore, Venture Global is integrating Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) projects at each of its LNG facilities, underscoring its commitment to environmental sustainability and reducing the carbon footprint of its operations.
