Argentina: Two of the most important areas to watch when it comes to the expansion of global Lithium production are the Rincon and Antofalla salars in the Lithium Triangle in Argentina. Rio Tinto is targeting production starting in 2024 and Albemarle is continuing to grow one of the largest Lithium resources in Argentina. This could have a significant impact on the availability of Lithium for use across the world.
Argosy Minerals is expected to join the ranks of other companies in delivering Lithium Carbonate to the electric vehicle (EV) market by June 2023 at the Rincon salar. This will be a major step in supplying this rapidly growing industry with critical resources to meet its demand.
Argentina Lithium & Energy is set to expand its exploration positions on two of the country's salars. Rincon Salar is currently undergoing drilling as part of plans to build upon the discovery at Rincon West. Meanwhile, Antofalla Salar has been granted permission for geophysics and initial drilling which is expected to begin in June or July 2021. The company is run by a qualified, discovery-focused management and geological team who are working hard to bring new energy sources online.
Lithium production is booming in the Andes, with Rio Tinto, Argosy Minerals, and Argentina Lithium & Energy leading the way at the Rincon Salar. In addition, Albemarle and Argentina Lithium are making progress at the Antofalla salar 120km south of Rincon. As global demand for this critical mineral continues to grow, these companies have positioned themselves as pioneers in the now world-famous "Lithium Triangle."
