Argentina: Following Economy Minister Sergio Massa's visit to Shanghai, the Argentine government announced in early June that Chinese mining firms have new projects in the Lithium-rich country of Argentina and have committed to spending millions of dollars in search of the "white gold." Tibet Summit Resources will contribute $1.7 billion to the Salar Arizano and Salar de Diablillos projects, which together would generate 50,000–100,000 tons of Lithium, according to the company. To produce 74,000 tons of Lithium Carbonate, Ganfeg Lithium, which presently has four projects in Argentina, will invest $2.7 billion.

Tsingshan Holding Group would contribute $120 million to a Jujuy alkaline chlorine production facility. Additionally, it is investing $770 million in the Salar Centenario-Ratones Lithium project in Salta province, which will begin production in 2024 and have an annual production capacity of 24,000 tons.

In addition, the Exar-owned Olaroz-Cauchari Lithium mine, whose shareholders include the Chinese company Jiangxi Ganfeng Lithium Co. Ltd. and the Canadian Lithium Americas Corp., will begin operations in the second half of 2023. They agreed that the mine will ship 40,000 tons of Lithium to China annually.

Because of its failing economy, Argentina is essentially handing over all its resources to China in exchange for financial and political support. Argentina gave up its claim to Beijing in the region where they are interested to gain access to more vital resources like Lithium.

Lithium serves as the foundation for several important global businesses, including industrial drying, air conditioning systems, batteries, nuclear power, transportation, digital gadgets, computers, and health. Argentina, the fourth-largest producer of Lithium in the world, shipped almost 40,000 tons of Lithium Carbonate in 2022. By 2025, it hopes to produce 200,000 tons annually.

The Lithium triangle, which includes Argentina, Bolivia, and Chile, contains about 55% of the world's reserves. In all three nations, provincial governors with connections to Beijing oversee nearly all Lithium reserves.

China's Lithium extraction sites in Argentina are situated along an increasingly significant cocaine highway from Peru/Bolivia that upholds regional criminal structures, giving China the opportunity to enter into agreements without being held accountable, being transparent, or remediating any environmental impacts.

Regional governments in Argentina do it. The operating method in China is corruption. To gain contracts, obtain licenses, and show zero concern for the environment, they bribe those at the highest levels, including presidents and ministers.

Chinese firms are always the least concerned about environmental implications even though tons of Argentine Lithium will flow to Beijing. We will be able to watch as they pollute, clear forests, and steal the region's critical resources over time.

China is expanding its influence in nations with unexplored reserves like Bolivia and Chile and investing in the world's leading Lithium producers, in addition to Argentina.

China's plan to extract this mineral is an aggressive and extremely ambitious attempt to seize control of the South American Lithium riches. Similar efforts are being made in other nations in the area where white gold is found.

Certain nations, including the United States, have been alerting the hemisphere about China's aggressive expansion in the Lithium area through conferences and workshops.

Because China is involved in everything and causes destruction, the U.S. is taking steps to build a quick and effective strategy to resist its onslaught in the Lithium area. Beijing never acts without a plan or an agenda.
