The Government is Set to Secure 1.6 Crore Litres of Soybean Oil and 60,000 Tonnes of Fertilizer

Bangladesh: The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has given the green light to two separate agreements. The first agreement is for procuring 1.60 crore litres of Soybean oil, while the second one is for procuring 60,000 tonnes of fertilizer. This move was made in response to the increasing demand in the country. The 7th meeting of the CCGP this year took place virtually, with Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presiding over it.

The Cabinet Division Additional Secretary, Sayeed Mahbub Khan, informed reporters virtually following the meeting that the day's session approved a total of seven proposals.

The Ministry of Commerce has submitted two separate proposals to the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) for procuring 1.10 crore litres of Soybean oil from Meghna Edible Oil Refinery Ltd. The cost for the purchase is approximately Tk 190.24 crore per litre, with Soybean oil costing Tk 172.95 - a decrease from the previous price of Tk 177.

The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) has announced plans to procure 50 lakh litres of Soybean oil from UN Trading in Dhaka. This local direct tender method would cost a total of Tk 86.40 crore, resulting in an average price per litre of Tk 172.8, a decrease from the previous price of Tk 178.45.

The Ministry of Industries has proposed two separate plans, in which Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) would purchase 30,000 tonnes of bagged granular Urea fertilizer from KAFCO, Bangladesh for approximately Taka 110.20 crore. This is a considerable decrease from the previous price of $500.125 per tonne — now costing only $345.125 per tonne.

The Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) has secured a deal to procure 30,000 tonnes of bulk granular Urea fertilizer from SABIC Agri-Nutrients Company, Saudi Arabia for around Taka 115.53 crore ($361.83 per tonne). This is much lower than the previous per ton price of $470.

The CCGP meeting today approved a proposal from the Power Division awarding M/S J&C Impex Ltd Dhaka the contract for collecting and installing machineries for Shikalbaha 150MW peaking power plant, as well as providing necessary consultancy services, at approximately Tk 91.85 crore.

The Cabinet Division additional secretary has announced that the Max Infrastructure Ltd. was awarded the package number PW-03 under the project for Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Road Development (2nd revised), worth around Tk 169.48 crore. Moreover, the meeting approved a variation proposal of the Road Transport and Highways Division.
