Technip Energies, in collaboration with SBM Offshore, has secured a significant contract from TotalEnergies for the construction and installation of the GranMorgu Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel in Suriname, France. The company announced the joint venture on Thursday, November 14.

The GranMorgu FPSO project, valued at over €1 billion, marks the first FPSO development in Suriname and is situated in Block 58, approximately 150 kilometers offshore the country.

This joint venture, leveraging the expertise of both companies, aims to construct an innovative FPSO designed to minimize greenhouse gas emissions. The project will feature an all-electric drive configuration, eliminating routine flaring and ensuring full reinjection of associated gas into the reservoirs.

Additionally, the FPSO will incorporate optimized power usage with waste heat recovery units and optimized water cooling for enhanced efficiency. A comprehensive methane detection and monitoring system, utilizing a network of sensors, will be installed to further reduce environmental impact.

Marco Villa, Chief Business Officer of Technip Energies, expressed enthusiasm about the award, stating, “We are thrilled to have been selected by TotalEnergies, alongside our partner SBM Offshore, for the GranMorgu FPSO project in Suriname. By capitalizing on our modularization expertise, we will engineer the topsides of this all-electric drive FPSO and oversee the fabrication process in collaboration with our partner. This contract underscores Technip Energies’ proven ability to incorporate technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions across various industrial installations.”
