Sumitomo Chemicals Strengthens Footprints in China, Sets up New Polypropylene Compounds Plant in Wuxi

Japanese chemicals giant, Sumitomo Chemical Co. has announced set up of its new Polypropylene (PP) compounds production facility with the name Zhuhai Sumika Polymer Compounds Co., Ltd. Wuxi branch to widen its automotive materials business in Wuxi, China. The Wuxi Plant which will be located in the premises of the company’s Sumika Electronic Materials (Wuxi) Co., Ltd. and is slated to come on-stream by the beginning of 2021. PP compounds are high-performance materials manufactured by combining PP with elastomer, glass fibers, and inorganic fillers to impart desirable properties such as impact resistance, rigidity and thermal stability for using specifically in automobile bumpers and car interiors. With tightening environmental norms, it is being anticipated that the demand for PP compounds would grow enormously for manufacturing automobile parts and components.
