Starlinger, an Austria-based machinery supplier, has revealed its provision of two polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle-to-bottle recycling lines to the Indian plastic recycling firm, Srichakra Polyplast. The order from Srichakra encompasses two of Starlinger's advanced recoSTAR PET 165 iV+PET bottle-to-bottle recycling lines, with delivery anticipated at the outset of the upcoming year.

Notably, Srichakra Polyplast already possesses one Starlinger recoSTAR recycling line, operational since 2021 at its Hyderabad facility in Telangana, India. This initial installation marked the debut of a bottle-to-bottle recycling line supplied and established by Starlinger within India.

The newly acquired recycling lines are set to enable Srichakra Polyplast's production of food-grade recycled PET (rPET) tailored for the creation of Coca-Cola India's latest 100% rPET water bottles. The decision by Coca-Cola India to adopt 100% rPET packaging for its packaged drinking water brand, Kinley, followed the approval from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for utilizing rPET in food packaging manufacturing across the nation.

Ravindra PV, Managing Director of Srichakra Polyplast, expressed his pride in supplying recycled PET resin for India's inaugural beverage bottle crafted entirely from 100% rPET. He highlighted Starlinger's PET recycling process, endorsed by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and approved by FSSAI, for ensuring comprehensive decontamination of PET during recycling. This process generates food-safe rPET pellets suitable for producing PET bottle preforms and various types of food packaging. The recoSTAR PET 165 iV+PET bottle-to-bottle recycling line by Starlinger stands as a dedicated solution for processing post-consumer PET bottles. The resulting product, rPET pellets, crafted using the recoSTAR PET 165 iV+, complies with food contact safety standards. These pellets serve a diverse range of applications, including packaging for water bottles, carbonated soft drinks, and food trays.
