Lithuanian module manufacturer Solitek has recently expanded its product portfolio by venturing into the residential battery market, unveiling a line of lithium-ion phosphate batteries. These innovative batteries are designed for home use and come in modular units with a capacity of 5.12 kWh each. Notably, these modules are stackable, allowing homeowners to combine up to eight units seamlessly. Each module operates at a nominal voltage of 51.2 V.

Solitek's foray into the residential battery market comes after successful pilot programs conducted in Lithuania over the past six months. The Nova line, as it is named, has undergone rigorous testing during this period, and the company is now poised to introduce it to international markets, starting with Sweden, Austria, Finland, and the Netherlands.

One of the key features of Solitek's residential energy solution is its emphasis on smart home energy management. The company claims to have developed a complete system that incorporates the battery, inverter, and intelligent software. The proprietary algorithms embedded in the software optimize energy usage and charging by analyzing electricity price data, weather forecasts, and consumption patterns. Sakalauskas highlighted the in-house development of the battery management software and emphasized the convenience of remote management and maintenance via the Solitek app, enabled by Wifi communications.

To ensure the longevity and reliability of their product, Solitek is offering a substantial 10-year warranty with an assurance of 60% end-of-life performance. The company has already obtained certifications such as IEC 62619, UN38.3, and CE, underscoring its commitment to quality and safety standards. Further, Solitek is actively working on securing additional sustainability certifications, with expectations of obtaining them in the second quarter.

Solitek's manufacturing facility, boasting a production capacity of 350 MWh, serves as the hub for fabricating its battery product line. The company has ambitious plans to scale up its production capacity to 1 GWh, indicating a strong commitment to meeting the growing demand for residential energy storage solutions. Notably, the new battery plant is equipped with a 310 kW solar PV façade covering an area of 1,675 m2, along with an additional 850 kW installed on the rooftop. This sustainable approach aligns with Solitek's dedication to environmentally friendly practices and renewable energy integration.

Established in 2009, Solitek operates as part of the BOD Group, a family-owned conglomerate comprising various high-tech companies. The company's venture into the residential battery market marks a significant milestone in its journey, showcasing its adaptability and commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions for homes. As Solitek's Nova line makes its international debut, it will be interesting to observe the impact of these lithium-ion phosphate batteries on the residential energy storage landscape and their potential contribution to a more sustainable and energy-efficient future.
