Siemens Smart Infrastructure, via its German subsidiary Alpha Verteilertechnik, has unveiled the latest addition to its range of sustainable electrical products. The new SIVACON 8MF1 industrial control cabinet series is available globally, offering a significant advancement over conventional control cabinets. This series is manufactured from 100% scrap metal, sourced from reputable European suppliers, and produced using wind power, highlighting Siemens' commitment to environmental responsibility.

This launch aligns with Siemens' broader sustainability goals as outlined in its DEGREE framework, which emphasizes decarbonization and resource efficiency. The introduction of the SIVACON 8MF1 series supports Siemens' 1.5°C science-based decarbonization target, reinforcing its dedication to achieving significant reductions in carbon emissions and advancing its sustainability agenda.

The offer maintains identical technical properties and functionality to cabinets made from traditional steel. It provides large industrial clients with a means to significantly lower their CO2 emissions, helping them advance toward their sustainability objectives.

The production process for SIVACON 8MF1 control cabinets significantly reduces CO2 emissions by 70% compared to traditional steel manufacturing methods, which rely on blast furnaces using iron ore and coal. This improvement translates to a reduction of 308 kilograms of CO2 per cabinet unit. Steel production currently contributes to eight percent of global emissions, making it imperative to address its carbon footprint. As steel demand continues to grow, adopting more sustainable production methods is essential for meeting climate goals.

The introduction of Siemens' green SIVACON 8MF1 control cabinets marks a significant step towards sustainable manufacturing. By utilizing recycled materials and renewable energy, Siemens not only reduces CO2 emissions but also demonstrates a commitment to advancing environmental stewardship. This initiative underscores the company's dedication to integrating sustainability into its operations and supports broader industry efforts to lower carbon footprints and promote eco-friendly practices.
