SGR, a France-based recycling company, has recently unveiled the deployment of an advanced analyzer designed specifically for post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate (PET) flakes. This innovative 4.0 analysis tool, manufactured by the Canadian company Eagle Vizion, is poised to revolutionize SGR's production capabilities, enabling the creation of high-quality recycled PET (rPET) tailored to the food industry's stringent requirements.

The cutting-edge equipment, aptly named the "Flake Analyzer," is purpose-built for the comprehensive analysis of post-consumer polymers, marking a significant step forward in SGR's commitment to producing top-tier rPET materials.

SGR possesses an impressive annual production capacity of 12,000 tonnes of rPET, primarily catering to the food industry's demands. The company's rPET product, known as CIRPET, garnered approval from the European Food Safety Authority in the previous year, attesting to its quality and suitability for use in food-related applications.

The Flake Analyzer represents a pivotal addition to SGR's production infrastructure, as it seamlessly integrates into the CIRPET production line, enabling real-time validation of flake purity. This integration empowers SGR to swiftly identify and respond to potential contaminants, maintaining consistently high levels of purity in the rPET material.

The machine's capabilities are made possible through the simultaneous utilization of several advanced technologies, including infrared identification, artificial intelligence (AI), and color identification. This amalgamation of cutting-edge techniques allows the analyzer to map and scrutinize the composition of the rPET material with remarkable precision, detecting each particle and quantifying the various constituents of the rPET flow at an astonishing parts-per-million level of accuracy.

SGR emphasizes that the quality of the resulting rPET material is contingent upon a combination of factors. The initial purity of the incoming PET flakes, alongside the effectiveness of the sorting processes employed to refine the material, plays a crucial role in determining the ultimate quality of the rPET.

The plant manager at SGR's Chalon-sur-Saône facility, Jean-Marc Wiencek, conveyed the importance of this technological advancement, stating that they were providing themselves with the means to bolster their position and provide their customers with the highest quality of rPET, with an emphasis on consistency. He also underscored the favorable influence of the new machine, improving the precision, efficiency, and dependability of their testing processes.

SGR's adoption of the Flake Analyzer represents a significant leap in the field of recycling and sustainable material production. This state-of-the-art equipment, integrated directly into their production line, empowers the company to uphold the highest standards of purity and quality in their rPET materials. With the combination of innovative technologies and a commitment to consistency, SGR is well-positioned to continue providing premium grade rPET solutions to the food industry and beyond, setting a noteworthy example in the realm of sustainable and eco-friendly material production.
