Circular Plas Company Limited (Circular Plas) has joined forces with Toyo Engineering Corporation in a collaborative endeavor. This joint development agreement (JDA) signifies their commitment to expanding capacity and capitalizing on business opportunities for commercializing innovative equipment and engineering processes. Their focus is on transforming mixed post-consumer plastics into recycled feedstock for petrochemical businesses, leveraging Circular Plas's affiliation with SCG Chemicals Public Company Limited (SCGC).

The groundwork for this ambitious project was laid with a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in January 2022, aimed at refining processes for converting post-consumer plastics into valuable resources for petrochemical production. The subsequent expansion of demonstration plant capacities and the progression towards commercialization serve as tangible signs of the project's success and potential.

The pioneering demonstration plant in Rayong province, Thailand, has achieved a significant milestone by effectively converting post-consumer plastics into pyrolysis products, essential raw materials for petrochemical plants. This achievement not only showcases technical prowess but also represents a milestone in sustainability, evidenced by the ISCC certification.

Circular Plas's plastic-recycling technology stands out for its energy efficiency and environmental benefits. By leveraging proprietary multifunctional materials in the liquefaction process, the technology reduces conversion temperatures, leading to increased yields of light cracked oils and a diminished environmental footprint.

TOYO's expertise in reactor design has been pivotal in adapting the technology to handle the variability of post-consumer plastics. Their efforts to enhance continuous-operation capabilities and boost capacity utilization highlight the technical proficiency and forward-thinking approach of both TOYO and Circular Plas.

A newly developed reactor, a collaborative effort between TOYO and Circular Plas, is slated for installation at the demonstration plant. Scheduled for demonstration in early 2025, this reactor system holds promise for scaling up the demonstration plant towards achieving commercialization objectives.

This partnership is set to significantly impact the petrochemical industry by offering a sustainable alternative to conventional feedstock sources. It also promotes the adoption of a circular economy approach, emphasizing waste as a new beginning rather than an endpoint. The dedication and enthusiasm displayed by TOYO and Circular Plas in advancing recycling technology align with TOYO’s mission of "Engineering for Sustainable Growth of the Global Community" and SCGC's sustainability goals under the "Low Waste, Low Carbon" approach.

This collaboration between TOYO and Circular Plas holds the potential to significantly transform the petrochemical industry by providing a sustainable alternative to conventional feedstock sources. By embracing the principles of the circular economy, wherein waste serves as a valuable resource rather than an endpoint, this partnership sets a new standard for industry practices. The enthusiasm and dedication demonstrated by both TOYO and Circular Plas in pushing the boundaries of recycling technology are commendable. Their efforts are in line with TOYO’s mission of "Engineering for Sustainable Growth of the Global Community" and align with SCGC's sustainability goals under the “Low Waste, Low Carbon” approach. This partnership exemplifies a commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship, driving positive change within the industry and beyond.
