Saudi Aramco has announced a series of significant oil and gas discoveries across Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province and the Empty Quarter. These findings further reinforce the Kingdom’s standing as a global energy powerhouse. Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman shared the details on Wednesday, highlighting the scale and impact of the discoveries.
In the Eastern Province, six oil fields and several reservoirs were uncovered. At the jabu oil field, very light Arab crude flowed at 800 barrels per day from well jabu-1. The sayahid field followed with well sayahid-2 producing 630 bpd of very light crude. The ayfan field showed strong results. Well ayfan-2 delivered 2,840 bpd of very light crude and 0.44 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.
In the berri field, the jubaila reservoir yielded light crude at a rate of 520 bpd from well berri-907. That well also produced 0.2 MMscf of gas per day. Another major site, the mazalij field, tapped the unayzah-a reservoir. Well mazalij-64 flowed with 1,011 bpd of premium light crude and 0.92 MMscf of gas per day.
In the Empty Quarter, new oil flows emerged from several wells. The nuwayr field produced 1,800 bpd of medium Arabian crude and 0.55 MMscf of gas per day from well nuwayr-1. At the damdah field, well damda-1 revealed two reservoir zones. The mishrif-c reservoir yielded 200 bpd of medium crude. The mishrif-d reservoir followed with 115 bpd of very light crude. In the qurqas field, well qurqas-1 produced 210 bpd of medium crude.
Natural gas discoveries also made headlines. In the ghizlan field, located in the Eastern Province, the unayzah b/c reservoir flowed with 32 MMscf of gas per day. Well ghizlan-1 also produced 2,525 barrels of condensate. The araam field showed even stronger output. Well araam-1 yielded 24 MMscf per day of gas and 3,000 barrels of condensate.
Unconventional gas discoveries took place in the mihwaz field. In the qusaiba reservoir, well mihwaz-193101 delivered 3.5 MMscf of gas per day and 485 barrels of condensate.
Further south, the marzouq field in the Empty Quarter revealed additional natural gas reserves. The arab-c reservoir produced 9.5 MMscf of gas per day. The arab-d reservoir added 10 MMscf. The upper jubaila reservoir in the same well produced 1.5 MMscf daily.
Prince Abdulaziz called the discoveries a critical milestone. He said they strengthen Saudi Arabia’s role in the global energy market. The new resources will drive economic development, support energy demand, and contribute to long-term sustainability. These efforts align with Vision 2030, which seeks to maximize the Kingdom’s natural resource value and boost energy security worldwide.
