Russia Faces 15-Month Low in Fuel Exports as Local Demand Surges

Amidst robust demand for road fuels within Russia and the emergence of products breaching price limits set by the Group of Seven (G-7) nations, the country's refined fuel exports are projected to hit a 15-month nadir.

Russia's dispatch of oil products during the first 20 days of August amounted to 2.24 million barrels per day. This constitutes a 14% contraction from the aggregate in July, marking the lowest export level since May 2022. Notably, this figure also stands about 5% lower when juxtaposed with the same period the previous year when European markets prominently featured as the primary consumers of Russian fuels.
