revalyu Resources, in collaboration with Heraeus Group and the Development Authority of Bulloch County, joined state and local officials to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony for their pioneering PET (polyethylene terephthalate) recycling facility in the United States. This cutting-edge plant is located within Gateway Regional Park in Statesboro, Georgia, and signifies revalyu's significant investment of over $200 million. The facility's primary objective is to recycle a remarkable 200 million pounds (90,000 metric tons) of post-consumer PET plastic annually.

One notable achievement of Revalyu's recycling process is the production of recycled PET of equivalent quality to virgin PET. This high-quality recycled PET, in the form of rPET chips, can be utilized as a direct substitute for a wide range of sustainable PET products. Currently, it finds extensive use in the textile industry, including applications such as seamless knitting, weaving, denim production, automotive, furniture, and technical textiles. Impressively, revalyu has already successfully recycled over 6 billion plastic bottles in India. Due to its innovative glycolysis-based recycling method, revalyu's rPET products offer a more sustainable alternative to conventional oil-based PET. This results in substantial environmental benefits, with revalyu's rPET production using 75% less water, 91% less energy, and saving approximately 0.7 barrels of oil and 0.2 cubic meters of landfill space for every 2000 pounds of PET recycled.

Jan van Kisfeld, the Managing Director of revalyu, expressed his vision of processing the equivalent of 25 million plastic bottles daily at the Georgia facility. He highlighted the importance of this endeavor for the company's global expansion, mentioning that their first plant in the US represents a crucial step in this direction. He pointed out that their existing and prospective US customers have a substantial demand for their 100% recycled pellets, which are on par with the quality of conventional oil-based PET pellets. He further explained that this advanced recycling facility would cater to their customers directly from the US, resulting in faster transportation, reduced costs, and a smaller carbon footprint.

Dr. Vivek Tandon, the Founder of revalyu, contributed by stating that used PET plastic can now undergo efficient, profitable, and easy recycling without any deterioration in quality. He emphasized that their already-commercialized innovative process is poised to revolutionize the PET plastic industry. He foresees a future where a decreasing amount of PET is produced from oil, gradually being replaced by high-quality recycled materials. He expressed gratitude to Bulloch County for their remarkable support, acknowledging them as an ideal partner for their international expansion.

Benjy Thompson, CEO of the Development Authority of Bulloch County, expressed enthusiasm for hosting revalyu's innovative technology and emphasized the positive environmental impacts this endeavor would have on the region. Thompson underscored that revalyu is the first German-owned company to establish its presence in Bulloch County.

The construction of the facility is projected to conclude in the third quarter of 2025. During Phase One, the facility will provide employment for 71 individuals, with an additional 50 jobs anticipated in Phase Two. This adds up to a total of 121 job opportunities, contributing positively to the local economy and workforce.
