ELIX Polymers has introduced its E-LOOP CR product range, created using certified sustainable raw materials that incorporate circular and bio-circular feedstocks. This achievement aligns with ELIX’s commitment to sustainability and promoting eco-conscious manufacturing practices.
The E-LOOP CR product line is ISCC-plus certified, ensuring full traceability and transparency throughout the supply chain. The certification follows the mass balance model, which verifies that the sustainable feedstocks are appropriately accounted for across production stages.
The E-LOOP CR range offers flexible feedstock combinations, ensuring adaptable product options for various industries. The three main monomers required for production—acrylonitrile, butadiene, and styrene—can be sourced from multiple origins: traditional fossil-based feedstocks, chemically recycled post-consumer waste, and bio-circular feedstocks. This versatility allows ELIX Polymers to offer high-performance materials while supporting sustainable practices.
By utilizing these sustainable raw materials, the E-LOOP CR products contribute to reducing CO2 emissions and minimizing greenhouse gas (GHG) outputs compared to conventional production processes. This reduction significantly enhances ELIX’s commitment to reducing its environmental footprint while promoting a circular economy.
One notable product within this range, ELIX ABS E-LOOP M220 CR100, was designed specifically for the toy industry. This product utilizes AnQore’s sustainable version of acrylonitrile, Econitrile-MB™, produced using eco-friendly ammonia and propylene. Econitrile-MB™ ensures that the toy industry can transition toward more sustainable materials without compromising product quality or safety.
In addition to sustainable acrylonitrile, Repsol contributes to the initiative by supplying styrene and butadiene derived from chemically recycled post-consumer waste and bio-circular feedstocks sourced from used cooking oil (UCO). These alternative feedstock sources provide environmentally conscious solutions that meet customer-specific requirements across different industries.
To ensure a consistent supply of these sustainable materials, ELIX Polymers partnered with both AnQore and Repsol in 2020. These strategic collaborations reflect the companies' shared commitment to achieving long-term sustainability objectives. By fostering partnerships across the supply chain, ELIX, AnQore, and Repsol collectively support the advancement of circular economy principles.
Importantly, the transition to E-LOOP CR products requires no adjustments from customers, as the properties and performance remain consistent with traditional materials. This seamless switch enables businesses to adopt more sustainable solutions without sacrificing product quality or functionality.
Through these efforts, ELIX Polymers reinforces its role as a leader in innovative, sustainable polymer solutions, driving positive change within the plastics industry and promoting environmentally responsible consumption practices.
