Reconomy, a global expert in the circular economy, has announced its acquisition of Lincoln Waste Solutions LLC, a prominent US firm specializing in waste and recycling management and consulting.

Based in Windsor, Connecticut, and established in 2005, Lincoln offers a comprehensive, full-service approach to waste and recycling management. The company provides a range of services, including recycling, waste consulting, hauler management, and back-office support. Lincoln aims to enhance waste efficiency, improve recycling efforts, provide sustainability data, and achieve cost savings through close collaboration with its clients and vendors.

The company boasts an impressive track record, serving hundreds of clients across the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Its diverse clientele includes multi-location businesses, regional and national firms, as well as Fortune 500 companies spanning various industries.

Lincoln accomplishes this by leveraging long-standing relationships with over 6,000 haulers, which helps it achieve significant outcomes and efficiencies. This approach complements Reconomy’s experience and expertise in delivering a top-tier outsourced model in the UK, enhancing the value provided to its customers.

This acquisition marks Reconomy's first venture into the US market, serving as a significant strategic milestone for the company and offering a foundation to boost growth in North America through its tech-driven, people-focused approach.

The acquisition enhances Reconomy’s established presence in North America. Under its RLG brand, Reconomy already supplies the technology supporting the kerbside recycling program in Ontario, Canada, and manages WEEE and battery compliance for major consumer electronics brands across the US from its New Jersey offices.

This acquisition builds on a series of recent UK and international acquisitions, including Circle Waste and Sudamin Rohstoff earlier this year, as well as five other complementary deals in 2023.

It further propels Reconomy's swift global expansion, which is rooted in its leading position in the UK, where it has been a trailblazer in the circular economy for over 30 years through its distinctive blend of technology, tools, and talent. Reconomy has grown to operate in over 80 countries, with more than 4,000 employees serving over 10,000 customers.

Guy Wakeley, CEO of Reconomy, commented: "We are excited to share this acquisition as part of our ongoing rapid expansion into the global waste management sector. The US market has always been a key focus for us, and acquiring Lincoln allows us to fast-track our growth in this area and extend our international presence. We are delighted to welcome the Lincoln team to the Reconomy family and look forward to collaborating with them to advance our shared mission of promoting the circular economy."

John Ayvas, CEO of Lincoln Waste Solutions LLC, stated: "We are thrilled to become part of Reconomy. Our mutual commitment to collaboration, innovation, and authenticity enables us to deliver top-notch service, helping customers manage their waste more efficiently and reduce costs. Joining Reconomy will strengthen our ability to support companies in their journey toward greater sustainability as the shift to a circular economy accelerates."
