QatarEnergy has signed a significant long-term contract to supply ENEOS Corporation, a leading refining and petrochemical firm in Japan, with up to 9 million tons of Naphtha over a decade, commencing in July 2024.

During the event, His Excellency Mr. Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, stated, “This agreement extends our successful and enduring partnership with one of our esteemed Japanese counterparts. We anticipate generating additional value and opportunities for the mutual benefit of both parties, further enhancing our collaboration.”

This agreement represents the most substantial and enduring commitment in over a decade of collaboration between the two companies.

ENEOS Corporation, Japan's largest refining and petrochemical company, is a wholly owned subsidiary of ENEOS Holdings, Inc. This conglomerate has been refining, manufacturing, and selling petroleum products for over 135 years, since its establishment in 1888 under the name Nippon Oil Corporation.

QatarEnergy, previously known as Qatar Petroleum (QP), is the state-owned entity responsible for overseeing Qatar's entire oil and gas operations. Its responsibilities encompass exploration, production, refining, transportation, and storage. The company manages Qatar's oil pipeline network, which transports crude oil from various fields to major refinery and export hubs. In Addition to this, QatarEnergy oversees an extensive offshore pipeline infrastructure dedicated to transporting crude oil from offshore fields to Halul Island for processing and exportation. The majority of onshore oil undergoes refining or exportation at Umm Said. Qatar's key export terminals, crucially situated at Umm Said, Halul Island, and Ras Laffan, facilitate these operations. Refining operations are conducted at QatarEnergy's primary facilities: the Umm Said Refinery and the Laffan Refinery in Ras Laffan.

ENEOS Corporation, based in Tokyo, stands as Japan's foremost fully-integrated oil company. It provides petroleum products, energy solutions, and services globally. As a trusted supplier to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), including major Japanese automakers, ENEOS manufactures advanced fully-synthetic and synthetic lubricants and transmission fluids under its own brand. Additionally, ENEOS develops high-performance motor oils for motorsports, enhancing performance advantages for drivers and riders. Notably, ENEOS is a longstanding official sponsor of prominent racing teams such as the Yamaha Factory Racing Team in MotoGP.

Recognizing its pivotal role in environmental stewardship, ENEOS is dedicated to fostering a sustainable economy and society through innovation in energy, resources, and materials. ENEOS' advanced technology products are crafted to safeguard the environment across the complete lifecycle of vehicles, aiming to reduce carbon emissions, enhance fuel efficiency, and minimize wear on essential components.
