Pyrum Receives Green Light for Second Tire Recycling Project in Germany

Pyrum Innovations AG, a waste tire recycler, has gained approval from the local council in Perl-Besch, Saarland, Germany, for the establishment of its second plant in the region. The construction of this new facility is poised to commence in the second half of the year, with the anticipated completion set for the end of 2025, as announced by Pyrum on February 8th.
This forthcoming plant will mirror Pyrum's existing facility in Dillingen/Saar and will boast a processing capacity of up to 20 kilotonnes per annum (ktpa) specifically designed for end-of-life tires (ELTs). Pyrum's CEO, Pascal Klein, revealed that the company has already initiated the procurement of the initial system components, acknowledging the extended delivery times associated with such components. The commencement of construction is slated for later this year.
The genesis of Pyrum's plans for a second German facility dates back to February of the previous year when Homburg, Saarland, was initially chosen as the site. However, during the preparation of the authorization documents, Pyrum encountered water-protection requirements for the chosen site that would necessitate "considerable additional investment." In light of these unforeseen costs, Pyrum communicated in November its decision to relocate to an alternative site that offers optimal logistical advantages.
