PL Developments, a leading manufacturer of over-the-counter (OTC) pharmaceutical and healthcare products, has announced that it will shut down its Clinton, South Carolina, facility by January 31, 2025. This decision will affect approximately 120 employees. The company emphasized its commitment to supporting its workforce during this transition, offering a comprehensive support package to those impacted by the closure.

The closure of the Clinton facility is part of a strategic realignment of PL Developments' operations, particularly in its liquids packaging segment. Recent investments in its other facilities, including those in Piedmont, South Carolina, and Lynwood, California, have significantly enhanced operational capacity and productivity, allowing the company to consolidate and streamline its operations.

CEO Mitch Singer explained that the decision to close the Clinton facility was not made lightly. “This was an incredibly difficult decision, but it is necessary for the continued success and competitiveness of our company,” he said. “We are committed to supporting our dedicated employees through this transition and ensuring they have the resources and assistance needed to help them secure new opportunities.”

In addition to severance benefits, PL Developments will offer career counseling, resume workshops, and job search assistance to affected employees. Furthermore, the company is providing those impacted with the opportunity to interview for positions at its Piedmont and Duncan, South Carolina facilities. PL Developments is focused on ensuring a smooth and supportive transition for all employees during this time of change.

PL Developments is a well-established name in the OTC pharmaceutical and healthcare product manufacturing industry. Over the years, PL Developments has grown into a trusted partner for both OTC private-label brands and contract pharmaceutical packaging. Its comprehensive service offerings span the entire manufacturing and distribution process, earning the company a solid global presence.

In a statement, President Evan Singer added, “Our priority is to ensure a smooth transition for our employees while maintaining our commitment to operational excellence. We value the contributions through the years of our Clinton team and will provide all possible support during this period.”

PL Developments’ decision to close the Clinton plant is reflective of broader industry trends where companies are consolidating operations and investing in facilities with enhanced capacities to stay competitive.
