In light of the forthcoming launch of LNG Canada, PETRONAS has recently commissioned and christened three cutting-edge, energy-efficient liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers. These state-of-the-art vessels, namely Puteri Sejinjang, Puteri Mahsuri, and Puteri Mayang, have been specifically constructed to facilitate LNG deliveries from North America to PETRONAS' global clientele.

With the introduction of these three new vessels—Puteri Sejinjang, Puteri Mahsuri, and Puteri Mayang—PETRONAS significantly enhances its logistical capabilities for LNG transportation in North America. This expansion underscores PETRONAS' commitment to bolstering its operational infrastructure and meeting growing global energy demands efficiently. The addition of these vessels builds upon the successful commencement and naming of the initial trio—Puteri Saadong, Puteri Ledang, and Puteri Santubong—in January 2024, marking a milestone in PETRONAS' strategic expansion and sustainable energy delivery initiatives.

Constructed at the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea, each of these vessels boasts a substantial cargo capacity of 174,000 cubic meters, making them the largest in PETRONAS’ diverse fleet of LNG carriers. Engineered with advanced energy-efficient technologies, these ships not only enhance PETRONAS’ logistical capabilities but also underscore its commitment to sustainability in maritime operations. Their deployment signifies a pivotal step towards bolstering PETRONAS’ capacity to meet growing global demand for LNG transport from North American facilities like LNG Canada.

Adnan Zainal Abidin, PETRONAS’ Chief Operating Officer, emphasized that LNG plays a crucial role in facilitating a just energy transition and will remain integral in the global energy landscape for the foreseeable future. With the introduction of these state-of-the-art vessels, PETRONAS reaffirms its dedication to efficiently and reliably supplying LNG to its global customer base. This strategic enhancement not only underscores PETRONAS’ commitment to meeting market demand but also ensures cost-effective and dependable delivery of this preferred energy source.

PETRONAS holds a significant 25% ownership stake in LNG Canada, located in Kitimat, British Columbia. This facility is recognized as one of the world's leaders in low carbon emissions intensity within the LNG sector. Scheduled for startup in the latter part of 2024, LNG Canada represents a cornerstone of PETRONAS' sustainable energy strategy, contributing to global efforts in reducing carbon footprints while meeting increasing global demand for liquefied natural gas.

Through the strategic expansion of its LNG fleet, PETRONAS not only enhances its preparedness for the imminent launch of LNG Canada but also solidifies its position as a forward-thinking energy partner. This initiative reinforces PETRONAS' dedication to delivering lower-carbon solutions to meet the evolving needs of its global clientele. By bolstering its logistical capabilities with advanced LNG vessels, PETRONAS reaffirms its commitment to sustainable energy practices and positions itself at the forefront of the transition towards cleaner energy sources worldwide.
