PetroChina Lanhai Advanced Material is gearing up for a significant expansion as it announces plans to construct a polyolefin plant in Nantong, located within the Jiangsu province. The proposed facility aims to feature primary production units capable of manufacturing 200 thousand tons per year of polyethylene (PE), 100 thousand tons per year of alpha-olefins, 100 thousand tons per year of polyolefin elastomer (POE), and 50 thousand tons per year of ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM).

This strategic initiative underscores PetroChina Lanhai's commitment to enhancing its production capabilities in the realm of advanced materials. The inclusion of diverse polyolefin products in the proposed plant signifies a comprehensive approach towards meeting market demands and advancing the company's position in the industry.

As part of its forward-looking strategy, the company is also contemplating the establishment of additional plants for the production of raw materials. This holistic approach aligns with PetroChina Lanhai's objective to establish an integrated and efficient production ecosystem.

The substantial investment earmarked for this ambitious venture amounts to approximately 11.6 billion yuan (CNY), equivalent to around US$1.6 billion. This financial commitment underscores the scale and significance of the project, emphasizing PetroChina Lanhai's confidence in the potential returns and the strategic importance of the polyolefin plant.

The choice of Nantong, within the industrially vibrant Jiangsu province, signifies a strategic location for PetroChina Lanhai's expansion endeavors. Jiangsu, with its robust industrial infrastructure, provides an advantageous environment for large-scale manufacturing operations. Additionally, Nantong's proximity to key transportation routes further enhances logistical efficiency for the transportation of raw materials and finished products.

The detailed breakdown of the production capacities for different polyolefin products showcases PetroChina Lanhai's intention to cater to a diverse market. Polyethylene (PE), with a planned production capacity of 200 thousand tons per year, stands out as a key component in various industries, including packaging and construction. The production of alpha-olefins and polyolefin elastomer (POE) adds versatility to the product portfolio, addressing specific industrial applications with tailored solutions. Furthermore, the inclusion of ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM) in the production lineup emphasizes PetroChina Lanhai's commitment to catering to the growing demand for high-performance elastomers.

Beyond the specified production capacities, PetroChina Lanhai is exploring the potential establishment of additional plants for the production of raw materials. This forward-thinking approach recognizes the importance of securing a robust and sustainable supply chain, essential for the seamless operation of the polyolefin plant. By considering the entire production ecosystem, PetroChina Lanhai aims to optimize efficiency and resilience in its operations.

The magnitude of the financial investment underscores PetroChina Lanhai's confidence in the long-term viability and success of the polyolefin plant. As the global demand for advanced materials continues to rise, PetroChina Lanhai's expansion in the polyolefin sector positions the company for sustained growth and market leadership.
