Netherland [Europe]: Westlake Corporation announced a major milestone for its Epoxy production line in Pernis, Netherlands - the first sale of certified mass balanced Bisphenol A (BPA) material. This certification was granted due to the successful tracing and handling of sustainable materials, as part of the company's International Sustainability & Carbon Plus (ISCC+) requirements. With this achievement Westlake Epoxy is paving the way to integrate renewable carbon materials into its raw material supply chain, while also reducing energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.
Pernis has achieved a major milestone as all hydrocarbon feedstocks used in the manufacturing of liquid Epoxy resins have been certified as replaceable by bio-based alternatives. This includes Phenol, Acetone and Propylene, which are used to produce BPA and Epichlorohydrin (ECH) respectively.
Westlake Epoxy is now certified with ISCC+ – an international industry-leading standard for bio-based, biocircular and circular raw materials. With this certification, the company is demonstrating its commitment to sustainability and responsible production by tracking existing feedstocks and replacing fossil materials with renewable resources. This system provides transparency and practicality at every level of the supply chain, making it a win-win solution for all stakeholders.
Westlake Epoxy recently achieved its second Platinum rating. This milestone underscores Westlake Epoxy's ongoing dedication to running operations in an environmentally friendly manner, and the company continues to serve a range of industries such as aerospace, automotive, civil engineering and construction, composite and wind energy, electronics, electric laminates and marine and protective coatings.
