Origin Materials ("Origin"), a prominent company in carbon-negative materials, dedicated to facilitating the global shift towards sustainable materials, and Bachmann Group ("Bachmann"), a key player in packaging production and logistics, have unveiled a strategic alliance aimed at large-scale production of PET caps and closures.

Within Bachmann's advanced manufacturing facilities in Europe, Bachmann and Origin will jointly manage production lines to transform both virgin and recycled PET into caps, including tethered caps, employing cutting-edge high-speed equipment and automation. Origin's caps are poised to be the initial commercially feasible PET closures to penetrate the mainstream market.

"Today, we're thrilled to unveil our collaboration with Bachmann Group, which will facilitate the seamless operation and automation of our PET cap mass production lines," stated John Bissell, Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Origin. "Bachmann Group will play a pivotal role in enabling us to manufacture billions of caps, from pellet or flake to finished closures. With a shared dedication to sustainability, we anticipate a highly fruitful partnership ahead."

Bissell further commented, "Bachmann Group, headquartered in Switzerland, boasts over 50 years of industry experience, specializing in logistics, quality assurance, and packaging production. Their expertise extends to high-volume, intricate products such as coffee capsules, demanding precision manufacturing. They offer cutting-edge technology solutions to renowned food, beverage, and healthcare firms worldwide. We're excited about this collaboration and eagerly anticipate the introduction of our sustainable PET caps and closures to the market, commencing later this year."

Reto Bachmann, CEO of Bachmann Group, remarked, "This advancement signals a significant shift within the industry, heralding a breakthrough in sustainability that underscores our dedication to environmental responsibility. Our inventive approach enhances product excellence and aligns with our mission to minimize environmental impact, revolutionizing PET cap and closure production in the industry. This milestone underscores Bachmann Group's outstanding proficiency as a premier manufacturing entity dedicated to offering innovative solutions that uphold the highest standards of quality and sustainability. Consistent with our sustainability commitment, we take pride in powering our facilities with 100% renewable energy, ensuring our production processes mirror the eco-friendliness of our products."

Origin's PET caps and closures represent a groundbreaking advancement in packaging, enhancing recyclability, particularly through cap tethering, facilitating lightweighting, and prolonging product shelf-life, all within a market valued at over $65 billion. Collaborating with esteemed partners like Bachmann Group, we're tackling the most complex sustainability hurdles, in harmony with our fundamental mission to facilitate the global shift towards sustainable materials.

Origin will launch its PCO 1881-compatible caps, crafted from either virgin or recycled PET, starting in Q4 2024, with PCO 1881-compatible tethered caps and additional cap varieties slated for release thereafter.
